How To Connect With People On LinkedIn In 60 Seconds
Let’s talk about how to connect with people on LinkedIn.
Whether you’re job hunting, found a friend on LinkedIn, or want to grow your audience as a creator, learning how to connect on LinkedIn is crucial.
Luckily the entire process takes about sixty seconds.
Let’s go over how to connect with people on LinkedIn.
How To Connect With People On LinkedIn
First off, find someone to connect with.
I found someone already who happens to be my friend.
Second, visit their profile page, which should look a lot like this:
For privacy’s sake I’ve blurred out this person’s name and profile picture.
See where that red arrow is pointing?
That’s the “Connect on LinkedIn” button. It’s sacred. Trust me.
Great, now click on that button, and a pop up should appear asking whether you want to “customize the invitation” to this person (pictured below).
You do. Not only will this increase the chances that this person will connect with you, it’s also pretty nice to send them a personalized note.
Just as an aside, this is why it’s so crucial to know who to connect with on LinkedIn. If you send out a ton of requests to people you don’t know, LinkedIn might punish your profile. We don’t want that.
As a general rule of thumb, these are who to connect with on LinkedIn:
- Friends
- Co-workers
- Family
- People who liked your recent LinkedIn content
- Someone who you hope to work for/with one day
Or if you know the person in some other fashion, that’s fine, too.
Anyway, back to learning how to connect with people on LinkedIn..
So click on “Add a note,” which will prompt another pop-up to appear.
Here you can send a message to this person along with your connection request.
Now all that’s left to do is to type in your message and press “Send” down at the bottom right.
And wa-la, that’s how to connect with people on LinkedIn in under 60 seconds. Well, almost. They do need to accept your connection request, but after they do you should be golden.
How To Connect With Many People At Once On LinkedIn
Okay, so if you want to like, mass connect with people on LinkedIn, just know that you can’t really do that.
LinkedIn doesn’t like it when users try to connect with many folks at once.
There is a way to connect with a lot of people nearly simultaneously, though. Here’s how to connect with many people at once on LinkedIn:
The basis of this method rests on creating content on LinkedIn and connecting with people who “like” your post. I’ll give you an example.
So this post got about 102 likes. You can see that it did down at the bottom. I’m not trying to pull a fast one on you, dear reader.
Great, now if I click into the number next to reaction logos, a big pop up will appear showing me ALL the people who liked my post.
If I scroll all the way down to the bottom, I’ll see a bunch of people who AREN’T my connections that liked my status. I can tell they aren’t my connections because there’s a “2nd” or “3rd” next to their names.
If I literally right click on each profile and open them in a new tab, I’ll quickly have about 20+ tabs open with connections just waiting to be consummated.
What the hell? Did I just say consummated in an article about LinkedIn?
Anyway, now all that’s left to do in this tutorial on how to connect with many people at once on LinkedIn is to just send each of them a personalized connection request.
Tell them thank you for you “liking” your recent status, and that you’d love to connect with them on LinkedIn.
This is what I was talking about earlier in my “Who to connect with on LinkedIn” guide. You can connect with folks who like your LinkedIn content.
In short, that’s the only way how to connect with many people at once on LinkedIn.
