YES!

You could publish a locked story today and earn money by tomorrow if you wanted to. The barrier to make money on Medium is pretty much non-existent–almost to the point where it seems too good to be true.

How Much Can You Make On Medium?

If you’re a beginner and you’re wondering about the money-making possibilities on Medium, don’t think you’ll get rich overnight. You can make a pretty good amount of money in your first 3 months, but it’s nothing to write home about. As you get settled you can make about $25 per month on Medium in your first 90 days.

That doesn’t mean it’s not worth it, though.

After your first 90 days, income amongst my students tends to go up exponentially. $75, then $150, then $300, then up to $1,000 after 9 or so months of steady posting on Medium.

Funny you ask that. Medium itself makes money with its subscription service. People pay $5 per month to read unlimited locked stories on Medium. Pretty much every story on Medium is “locked,” so let’s get that out of the way.

When someone reads my locked story, a portion of the money they pay to Medium every month is deposited into my account. So I get a portion of their $5 Medium payment. It’s awesome, right?

So to make more money on Medium, you need to have a lot of people read you, and you need to publish often.

Is Medium Viable For 2021 And Beyond?

Medium is only getting bigger and bigger. It’s becoming a juggernaut in the online publishing world, and I read somewhere that 60-70% of writers who publish something on Medium end up earning money.
