Why Every Blogger Should Be On Medium

If this is the first time you’ve heard about Medium.com, I really feel bad for you.

Here’s why..

In the past year, Medium has helped me:

  1. Garner 5,000 email subscribers.
  2. Reach 70,000 page views per month.
  3. Make $25,000 + in the last five months.

Now that I have your attention, let’s get into why Medium.com is an amazing platform, and why you need to make a profile on there ASAP.

1. It’s An Incredible Traffic Generator

Back in mid-2016, I would be lucky to get 500 views per month to my blog.

I mean, my craziest month I had 3,000+ visitors or so, and that’s because an article of mine went viral on the Huffington Post.

All new bloggers understand how difficult it is to get traffic to their posts when they’re first starting out.

No?

Well get this..

I guarantee if you started posting 3 times per week on Medium the right way, you’d have 5,000 views by the end of that month.

That’s 12 posts / 5,000 views = 140 views per post.

I’m serious that this could happen to you—you just need to employ the best strategy by getting into + posting on big publications (which is easy as crap, by the way).

I go into that in more detail in my free email course.

Look, not everybody knows how to make a great Pinterest graphic or leverage an audience on social media to drive traffic..

But most of you know how to write—you should get started on Medium to take the marketing out of the equation.

2. It’s The Easiest Way To Get Paid For Your Writing

How do most bloggers generate income from blogging?

That’s right—by creating online courses, leveraging affiliates, writing sponsored posts, and maybe even running advertisements on their site.

Creating online courses and sponsored posts is time consuming—and affiliate marketing/advertisements can be technically challenging for beginners.

I don’t know if you knew this, but there’s another way.

With the brand new Medium Partner Program (rolled out October of 2017), writers can now “lock” stories and actually get paid for their articles.

Here’s a three-sentence explanation of how it works..

Most Medium users are “Members,” meaning they pay $5 per month to read as many “locked” stories as they want by other writers. If a Medium “Member” claps for your story, a portion of their subscription fee is given to you.

So say I clap for your locked story tomorrow, you’ll get maybe $3-$4 of my subscription fee.

It’s a lot to understand, but you probably get the picture with my explanation there. You can find out more about it here.

The fact is, Medium changed the game in October of 2017. There is no system for paying writers quite like this on the internet today. It makes things easier than ever for budding writers to get paid NOW.

UPDATE: Just recently Medium editors started giving $100 “bonuses” to newer writers for writing locked stories that they deemed deserved special recognition.

They’re only doing this for newer writers—so I think it’s never been a better time.

3. It’s A Social Media Platform Designed Specifically For Bloggers

Where else can you “follow” writers and get notified of all their newest blog posts in one centralized location?

Twitter is cool, and Instagram is cool, but Medium was designed specifically with bloggers in mind.

You can ONLY share blog posts—not tweets or short statuses or anything like that.

It’s meant to be a place for long, deep, and meaningful content. I say it’s like Twitter except you don’t tweet, you post blogs. I hope that makes some sense.

4. It Cuts The Marketing Bullshit Out Of Blogging

How many times have you clicked through to a post on Pinterest and been disappointed by endless affiliate links and overhyped benefits?

Yeah, it’s bullshit—I don’t like it.

On Medium people actually post meaningful shit.

Like this article. People aren’t here to make money—they’re here to express themselves and find community.

I think bloggers looking for more ‘meaning’ from their words would feel right at home on Medium.

5. Medium Is Still Super Young Right Now

Medium’s doing a lot of awesome things as a company that have the potential to change the internet as we know it. I’m serious. I talk about it in this video..

For some reason, Medium is STILL super young right now. AKA, nobody really knows about it yet.

Medium is not saturated, and it’s got just the right amount of readers to make this the fucking golden age for posting there.

That’s the real reason why I think everybody should be on Medium right now.
